Printing wildlife

Very excited to be working on proofs of my second book, due out in August this year.  It’s going to be published by Langford Press but is part of the Wildlife Art Techniques series.  The content builds on First Impressions (my first book, published in 2014,) with new technical material on design and registration and is illustrated with works in progress as well as new, finished pieces, throughout.

I’ll be posting more details about when and where it will be launched later in the year.

SF brochures

Every year Dumfries and Galloway holds one of the best, selective, Open Studio trails in the country during the late May Bank Holiday weekend.  This will be our tenth year so it’s a special one for us. If you are having difficulty getting hold of a brochure and would like to come, let me know and I’ll send you one.

red deer card

This recent linocut of a Red Deer, inspired by a trip to Jura last year, is now available as a 6″ x 6″ blank greetings card from my online shop.

Come and join me at the Mc Gill Duncan Gallery this weekend where I’ll be printing this woodcut of Choughs and talking about my other working methods, from 11 until 1pm.   This is a good opportunity to view the mixed exhibition of recent work by myself, landscape artist Tracy Levine and wildlife artist John Threlfall.

For details of opening hours and online sales etc see the Mc Gill Duncan Gallery website

Hedgehog print

A summer's day thumbPied wagtail linocut

Starting with the Private View on February 6th I’ll be exhibiting more than twenty new works alongside Cumbrian landscape artist Tracey Levine and local SWLA artist John Threlfall.  On February 13th I’ll also be demonstrating in the gallery.  Click here for more information on the gallery opening times.

This is a first!  My workshops are fully booked at the moment with a short waiting list for cancellations.  Please let me know if you’d like to be added to it.

I’d also like to thank all my customers and friends and wish you a very happy new year!

Owing to a cancellation there are still two or three places left on my White line woodblock course on January 31st.  This is a great introduction to printmaking as it enables you to produce prints with the minimum of cutting and in full colour, without a press!  You can book now through the online shop on this site.
