Description
This one day workshop will enable you to develop a full colour batik on paper. This technique uses dyes and wax to create a batik image on paper which can be mounted and framed like a conventional picture. We will be using thermostatically controlled wax heaters, brushes, tjantings and a suitable paper with cold water dyes. Images are built up in succession by sealing each colour with wax. The last stage involves cracking the wax and dip dyeing the paper in black ink to achieve the characteristic crazing effect. Small class size means that you will get a great deal of personal attention.
Price is per person and includes a light vegetarian lunch and refreshments. All materials included. The workshop lasts from 10 am to 4:30.
Accommodation (which is not included) is available in Port William and nearby.
The maximum number of participants in this workshop is four.
I am afraid I can’t accept bookings for or on behalf of under 18s.
Do contact us before you make a booking if you have mobility issues or special dietary requirements and please note that batik is a physical activity that will involve working at floor level from time to time (eg whilst dip dyeing)
Cancellation policy: If you cancel your course booking we will retain 50% of the
course fee. The remaining money can either be refunded or used against the cost of another course. If you cancel within a week of the course start date you
will lose your whole course fee.
If there are insufficient bookings for this workshop or if the weather prohibits safe travel I will refund the fee in full, but you might wish to insure your other costs against cancellation.
